Some people are very busy. Some people produce great results. Some rare people are very busy producing great results. Cindy Cannon is one of those people.
When you read the list of her accomplishments below, two things stand out. The first is the sheer quantity of achievements. It is clear that Toastmasters is a high priority in Cindy’s life, to which she dedicates great time and energy. The second is the quality of these achievements. The recurring theme I see is that everything Cindy touches becomes President’s Distinguished, whether at the Club, Area, or Division level. With the wisdom and effectiveness of the Toastmasters program, you know that this translates into positive change and improvement in the lives of many, many people.
Cindy is a leader, team player, team builder, mentor, trainer, innovator, and inspirational speaker with a love for Toastmasters. It comes out in her history of quality involvement with Toastmasters International. She has raised performance at the Club, Area, and Division to the highest level, President’s Distinguished. Who is better suited to work along with the next District Governor, Lieutenant Governor of Education, and other District Officers to raise District 14 to President’s Distinguished status, if not to the status of the number one District in the world?

Why Me?
The belief that drives the way I spend my waking hours is that you can do anything you want to do in life no matter what the circumstances. I am blessed to be able to use my time in two ways to accomplish my mission. One, of course, is Toastmasters. I have seen so many people grow in their speaking ability, confidence, and leadership. The other is being able to place people as a recruiter. When someone gets a new career or better job because of what Toastmasters has done for them, then for me it is truly a case of Mission Accomplished!
The personal benefits I receive from Toastmasters are the things I need to learn about speaking, too. Better use of the Queen’s English, to slow down my speech, and to make my best connection with the audience are just a few. At the same time, I look at Toastmasters as an integral part of my life. Since I am self-employed, I have the flexibility to give a lot of time to working as your next Lieutenant Governor of Marketing. The best part is that my boss thinks Toastmasters is a great program, too.
I promise to bring innovative methods to accomplishing the twin goals of membership growth and club growth. Here are just two examples of how I have used innovation and teamwork to accomplish important Toastmasters goals.
Another governor and I took two strong divisions, E and G, and had them work together as a team. We hooked up the area governors to jointly do area and division training as well as contests. We also had a special extra meeting on how to be a President’s Distinguished Division. Division E and G were the only Divisions in District 14 that were PDD! We also had all of our officers trained, our dues in on time, and our governors coming to the DEC meetings.
I created a program that trains new clubs on the criteria that will make them successful.
1) Train officers how to work together where all officers understand each others’ roles and function as a powerful team
2) Teach new members how to do General Evaluation and Speech Evaluations
3) Teach the President’s Distinguished Club program
4) Have the current new clubs train together when possible - the trainers are the Division Governors/Area Governors, mentors, and sponsors. That way they get to know their people and the training is done where we all have multiple styles.
This innovative program has been proven to work now and will work for the future.
I give more than 50% of my time to Toastmasters, if you ask my husband he will say 75%. I am not asking you to do that. I know how to make teams. I know how to motivate teams. I know how to reach the end result because it is planned out. I have done these things both in Toastmasters and in the business world by coming up with innovative solutions that let people apply their talents and energy to achieving their desired goals.
I am very excited to be the next Lieutenant Governor of Marketing. As the current Club Extension Chair, I have been prospecting for new club opportunities, collecting dues for new clubs, and bringing new people to Toastmasters. I know how to build membership.
The Lieutenant Governor of Marketing is charged with growing the biggest, strongest District of Toastmasters and Toastmasters clubs possible. Each Toastmaster is a valuable brick in the construction of this strong District. When a house is made of bricks, each brick is fit into place with all of the other bricks. The bricks are held together with a special mortar to keep them properly and firmly in place. There is a special mortar that Toastmasters need to hold themselves together with each other. The ingredients are enjoyment, personal growth, and the knowledge of how to have successful clubs with great meetings.
Interestingly, the stronger the foundation, the higher you can build. So it is with building Toastmasters. When new clubs or established clubs hold great meetings, that strong foundation is a magnet for new members. A smooth running meeting is like a perfectly laid course of bricks. It is beautiful to behold. People have fun and grow in their speaking and leadership skills. Visitors want to become another brick in that beautiful wall. Knowledge is passed along. The foundation grows. A virtuous cycle of building higher and higher takes place.
Brick by brick we will build membership in the State of Georgia! Become the best brick you can be through the Toastmasters Communications and Leadership programs. Help us mix that special mortar. Together, we can build higher and higher.
I want you to know that you and others can do any thing you want to do in life no matter what the circumstances.
Thank you for your support.

When Lee Iacocca was Chairman of Chrysler he used to say, “If you can find a better car, buy it.” Maybe it’s something they taught us both at Lehigh University, but the reason that I signed on as campaign manager for Cindy Cannon is that I don’t believe you can find a better candidate for District 14’s Lieutenant Governor Marketing. I want to see District 14 experience phenomenal growth in membership and achievement. Everything Cindy has put her mind to in Toastmasters has turned to gold. It’s time to put that Midas touch to work in the District office that delivers new and stronger members!
People spend their time and talents where their heart is. Cindy gives so much of herself to Toastmasters – look at the long list of her accomplishments! When you see all of the work Cindy has done around the District as a member, as a club officer, as Area Governor of the Year, as Division Governor of the Year, and as District Club Extension Chair, one thing is clear. Cindy Cannon is the kind of experienced candidate, with a proven successful track record, motivated by a love for all of the people in Toastmasters, who can drive membership and club growth so that District 14 can once again become a President’s Distinguished District.

I don’t know anyone who has worked harder and has been more dedicated to this organization than Cindy Cannon - and I’ve been a Toastmaster for 18 years. She has the passion, the knowledge, and the skills to do a superb job as District 14 Lieutenant Governor of Marketing. Cindy also contributes greatly as a member of my home club, Speakers Roundtable, through her wonderful example.
